Rayo is a convicted murderer a third of the way through a twenty-year prison sentence. He passes his time in his cell gazing through the bars at the distant trees, because the only thing brain-damaged Rayo loves in this world is the color green. When his prison transport bus overturns on a mountain highway, Rayo flees into the forest. But when he comes across a young boy—brutalized by his father and left chained to a tree—Rayo is forced to choose between rescuing the boy and preserving his own precious freedom. Rayo decides to help the boy. And then things get complicated.

1. All That’s Green
On his way to being transported to a new prison, convict Rayo savors all the colors of nature until a vehicular crash allows him to flee into the depths of the verdant wilderness.
2. Flight
Rayo takes shelter for the night in an old hunter’s cabin and considers his options; the next day he comes upon a boy chained to a tree.
3. The Kid
Rayo frees the boy and the two form a tentative alliance as they hunker down in the boy’s family cabin.
4. The Green Man
The kid sees the strange tattoo on Rayo’s back and Rayo learns what the image stands for.
5. Outhouse
Rayo and the kid grow closer; Rayo discovers what fate befell the kid’s missing mother.
6. Patricide
Rayo departs, leaving the kid behind; the kid’s father returns and Rayo must make a decision that will change both his future and his past.
